Jailbreak iPhone iPod Touch
How To Easily Jailbreak iPhone/iPod Touch With 3.13 Firmware
This guide will show you how to jailbreak the latest iPod/iPhone 3.13 firmware. I tell you it is not just about the pwn program that will allow you to do the jailbreak. You will need even the older firmware to do the job for you. Let’s begin with some simple reminder.
1. As of current update, the latest redsn0w 0.94 is only able to break iPod 2G provided it has been jailbroken before at least once. Do not use it on iPhone 3G or 3GS yet until there’s an update.
2. Redsn0w 0.93 only works on 3.1.2 for iPhone 2G and iPod 1G, 2G.
3. Jailbreaking is not endorsed by Apple and it instantly voids your warranty and yada yada, if you are interested to hear the rants, go to apple website or wikipedia.
Please raise your hand and repeat after me,
I, “yourname”, will hold myself solely responsible for any outcome that may in anyway result in a malfunction or damage to my device. DIY computer repairs will not be in any way liable for any misadventure in the process of jailbreaking.”
If you agree to the above statement, you may proceed, else please close your browser and goodbye.
In this tutorial, I will be explaining how to jailbreak using redsn0w 0.93
Step 1,
Install the latest version of itunes software.
If you wish to buy from apple store for the 3.1.3 software, go ahead, but the site provides the file for free.
Note : Click on the dropdown menu and look for the correct firmware. Notice that there is 1G, 2G, iPod, iPhone and so on. Most of you should be looking at the second level. Scroll down further for iPod touch.
Once you have downloaded the firmware, hook up your device and start itunes, go to the restore menu and hit cancel to reject the upgrade by apple. Then press the shift key as you click on the restore button. Browse and look for your downloaded 3.1.3 ipsw.
Step 2,
The difference between the 2 versions of redsn0w is that redsn0w 0.93 is used to jailbreak firmware 3.1.2 and redsn0w 0.94 is used to jailbreak 3.1.3.
Yes, you are not seeing things, it is 3.1.2, this is not a spelling error. For iPod touch users, you should be able to use iPhone firmware. Or in my case, my iPod is a first Gen device, I found mine here
By now you should have upgraded your device to firmware 3.1.3. It is 3.1.3, not 3.1.2.
Step 3,
Now you can start the Redsn0w application by extracting it to a folder and double clicking on the exe.
The first screen asks you for the IPSW for the current firmware. Choose the 3.1.2 firmware and NOT the 3.1.3.
It will say IPSW successfully identified.
Click on next
You are presented with 5 options with Cydia already checked. You can leave it as that or include extra checkboxes for additional hacks. But it does not really matter.
Click on next. Now, this screen is very important. It says, Power OFF the device first. Make sure the device is Hooked up to your computer via USB first before you power it off. Not the other way round or in other patterns.
Do not click next if you are not ready, because the moment you click on next, you will be prompted instantly to follow a sequence of motions to send the device to recovery mode. It begins with holding the top “on button” for 3 secs, and follow the rest of the instructions on screen.
Do not fumble. If after the whole sequence is done and you do not see any popup or indication at the lower right hand corner of the screen. It means you fail to complete the magical sequence. Unplug the device from the USB and turn it on just like usual. Then go back and restart from step 4.
If you fail to wake the phone up, hook the device to the USB or power source and press and hold on to the “On” + ” Home” together and hold it there till it reboots and wakes up.
Do not press in all sorts of combinations after the program has already prompted you that nothing is detected. You will screw up your device into a DFU mode which is another form of recovery, but it only means that you need to start itunes and allow itunes to restore back to original settings before you can use your device again. So enjoy waiting.
Now that you have got past the magical sequence, you will see this image on your device.
This image will stay there for almost 5 mins despite the fact that your redsn0w program has already long ended itself. Do not press anything on your device or start itunes or mess with your computer. You may carry on surfing the net if you feel that your computer is stable enough not to give you any problem. As long as the animation is still running and has not frozen, you will carry on waiting.
Finally, the long wait is over and you see this on your device. This is much faster than the previous screen and besides, you will be able to see the progress bar instead of just pure waiting.
It will reset itself once it is done and please do not freak out after it resets itself, because you will see a whole screen of boot up messages which looks frightening. Relax; it is just the loading of the jailbreak code. It will load up longer than usual but give it around a minute and it will enter the device interface.
Bingo you have successfully jailbreak your device. Congratulations.
Step 4,
For iPhones, go to the Cydia app and look for BootNeuter app, use the search to look for it. Install that and follow the instructions on screen to unlock your iPhone.
I hope this “how to jailbreak touch iPhone firmware 3.0” guide is easy enough everyone of all levels to follow without any body getting lost halfway in their jailbreaking process. Spread it around if you feel that it will benefit others as well.

I used Redsn0w to jailbreak and unlocked a bricked 2g. But after it says DONE, the iPhone has a lit up black screen and nothing happens. what wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in Advance..
It looks like there are quite a few similar cases online. To turn it back on, just connect to a power source and hold the on and start button till it turns back on.
Thanks a lot for providing the info. I’m curious to know if this method will be similar for v4? Sort of anxious to get my hands on it. Also, Redsn0w is great and I think a lot of people unfortunately have problems with it because they don’t know where to start with it
The route taken to hack any version of iPhone/iPad is the same, what is most important is that the software being used. A newer version of Redsn0w or other breaking software will be released for a different firmware, but to jailbreak firmware version 4, it may take a while for the new jailbreak.
Jailbreakme is the software I’ve used recently, which was so easy I wasn’t sure it could possibly work. Basically, like Shingo says, the software changes based on firmware/model and newer and better things keep coming out.
