This device is powered by the fastest 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor and claims to be able to handle rough hands. The installed operating system comes with some popular widgets already installed like Facebook and Twitter. The display is set to be used in landscape mode so that more content can be loaded.
This Dell Streak even comes with a 5 mega pixel camera. It can also be used as a phone. Some of these models out there might be pre-installed with Android 1.6, but they are eligible to be upgraded to a newer 2.2
Archos 101
The Archos 101 is a large 10.1-inch Android tablet. One main obvious characteristic is that this tablet’s ease of connecting to your main computer. You will be able to view your files in your main computer as long as you are connected to the same Wi-Fi and you did enable file sharing on your main system. No fuss, no mess.
Because this Archos 101 has such a large screen, the manufacturer knew that this device can serve as a portable media player. You can pull out a kickstand at the back of this device and prop it up on a table to enjoy video files without having to hold on to it all the time. The built in speakers are also amazingly impressive with loud volume.
There are also HDMI, micro USB, volume and power controls are located at the left side of the device. There is even a USB port on the device itself. You can hook up an external drive directly. The Archos 101 will detect the drive and you can access the files in the drive. This device has a very different feel compared to other Android tablets because other tablets only feel like a blown up version of an Android phone. But this Android operating system is a customized build instead.
Archos 70
The Archos 70 is the 7-inch model of the larger Archos 101. Being smaller in size means it has a different arrangement in the ports and buttons. What is different is that the ports and buttons are spread over the left and the right sides of the device instead of having them all on one side. It has its speaker built on the front instead or on the rear. But this is better instead since there is a lower possibility of the speaker being blocked. This device lacks a USB port since it is no big enough to include that in.
This device is very thin and very light compared to the bigger brother. This makes it very portable to carry around. It also has a back kickstand so that it can stand on its own without having to hold on to it. Even though this device does not include the phone feature unlike the Archos 101, it still serves well as a tablet PC.
Creative ZiiO 7
Creative is not a new name in the portable media player world but is very new in the tablet PC world. The ZiiO 7 device is a 7 inch tablet with a resistive screen. A resistive screen means that you can use anything other then your finger for precision touch. This is because Creative intends to make the ZiiO 7 an educational gadget as well with a range of applications related to writing of Chinese characters which requires working with a stylus.
To give a fair review to this gadget as compared to other tablets, this device will lose out since it decides not to use a capacitive screen. A non capacitive screen means that this device will lack multi-touch. What is impressive in this device is the great audio experience you get. The audio being played out of this device has the best quality out of the other tablets out there. Video quality is average.
Samsung Galaxy Tab
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is one big threat to the Apple’s iPad. This device is a blown up Android phone look alike. Being a 7 inch tablet, it is very portable and fits perfectly when you hold in with both hands vertically or horizontally. You can type with both hands with no problems. The screen can be flipped between portrait and landscape mode which is an excellent feature, since it is more suitable to read news articles or e-books in portrait mode and play games in landscape mode.
Even thought the 3-mega pixel camera is not very impressive, at least it comes with a front 1.3 MP camera for video calls, and a rear 3 MP camera for taking photos. This device can also be used to make calls just like a smartphone. You can use a Bluetooth headset to avoid looking like a real retard speaking to such a huge device. This device comes with a proprietary jack that allows hooking up of adapters like USB or HDMI. The touch screen is very responsive and smooth even in playing of games from the Android market.
