You will need to click on the “Devices” option of the Virtualbox software when the Windows 8 is running, followed by clicking on “Install Guest Additions” Now press the Windows Key and get to the “Desktop” of Windows 8. Right click on it and update the drivers. Browse for the drivers manually and navigate to the C:\Drivers\x86 folder where you have just extracted a bunch of files from the Virtualbox-addons disc. It should be able to locate the driver and install it.
Reboot the Windows 8 once and now you will need to install another driver. Navigate back to the “Device manager” and this time round, right click right at the top most entry which is the name of this machine. Choose “Add legacy hardware”. Select “Choose manual selection” and you will come to a list of hardware to choose from. Select “Display Adapter”, “Oracle” followed by “Have Disk”. Navigate the installer path to C:\drivers\x96\vboxvideo
Reboot after installing the video adapter and you will experience some additional smoothness in the whole operating system in general. You will be able to use the Areo desktops from now on. Games will still be laggy but at least it is something.
