Last Good Configuration
Last Known Good Configuration.
There are times when either through computer virus / spyware removal or through some other computer system error, that you find your PC will no longer boot ! But don’t panic, we are going to go back in time using a little facility built into Windows XP. We are going to reboot the computer and press F8 when the BIOS screen is visible & just prior to when the windows XP load screen is due to show. Remember how to do this because this is the same procedure for booting to safe mode.
Choose “Last known good configuration” and press enter.
Hopefully this gave you access to your windows XP. Remember to scan your computer for viruses & Spyware (update your Virus & Spyware definitions first) as your computer might be infected. If you do not have an antivirus, CLICK HERE to get a list of free Virus Scanners available on this website.
Please note: This procedure is a fairly basic start to rectifying whatever problems you may be having & as such is not always successful. However we are starting with the basics & will gradually progress through to more detailed problems & remedies as we progress through this PC Repair category.
