You should replace the bolts with non-conductive bolt & replace the battery
wire with 1 or 0 gauge cable.
Moises, try an ANL fuse and holder
That’s the average cost for the quality of pure sine inverter with the
requisite watts, I got mine during a sale. However, a good modified sine
will also work well.
Nice job. I can tell u put a lot of thought into your design.
I’m looking to build something exactly like this for backup power. Run a
few lights, a coffee maker and my LED TV (100 watts) for a few hours a day
if the power went out. Would I be able to recharge the deep cycle batteries
from my car? Also, what size solar panel would I need to recharge the
batteries and how long would it take? I can’t find this info anywhere.
Thanks!
Thanks for your comment.
I know you set up for back-up power. If I want to first use any battery
power available and then switch to the grid as a back-up can the smart
inverter be programed to do this? I am of the idea of using as little power
as one can and when it is available. I love your ideas and set up.
If you load that inverter even beyond 360 watts your going to blow a 30A
fuse, Ohm’s Law, right Volts X Amps = Watts 12V*30A = 360W A 150A fuse
would be a better choice.
Someone else made the same suggestion, which is a good one. I’ve been
exploring that and other different approaches.
You ask a very good question. Standard combustion generators can produce
continuous current as you stated, unfortunately they are inefficient in
distributing that power, whether you use it for a lamp or freezer, it’s
still going to burn a good amount of gas, in this way energy is broadcast.
In contrast, battery backup systems provide power to loads on demand. A 5
cu’ compact freezer will run for 24hrs on this unit, and 10 on a Gen. I
would use a Gen to recharge the unit in 2hrs for better use.
WILL YOU SALE IT TO ME AND IF YOU WILL HOW MUCH WILL YOU SALE IT FOR..
Your idea is good. Someone else suggested the same thing. I have since
re-designed the setup that gives me better flexibility. Thanks for your
comments.
Moises, I was incorrect on the fuses. On the DC side between the battery
and the Inverter, a 150A inline fuse would work.
